SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA

INFORMATION
The Southwest Virginia Walk of Fame is founded
in 2008 to provide a showcase for the heritage
of Southwest Virginia and to advance the
knowledge, awareness and appreciation of great
Southwest Virginians, past and present, who have
made significant contributions to the our state,
nation, and world.
The
walk will be located on the grounds of the
Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park.
Each honoree will be designated with a tile
inscribed with their name and area of discipline
(architecture, literature, medicine, politics,
sports etc.) for which their contribution is
known. An accompanying brochure contains a
brief biographical summary.
The
tiles are permanently set into the sidewalks of
the Southwest Virginia Museum grounds. The Walk
of Fame is free of charge, open during the
operation hours of the museum, and accessible
for all to enjoy. The walk will serve, as an
educational tool for area citizens and school
children, as well as highlight to tourists, the
region's contributions to the history of our
state and nation. |
