Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park

• December 1 -  December 31  "Festival of Trees."  This local holiday tradition returns for its 14th year.  See over 80 trees and other decorations provided by volunteers from the region.  Regular admission rates apply.
   
• Saturdays in December - "Festival of Trees" Night Viewing  6:30 - 8:30 PM.  See the trees and other holiday decorations in the magical atmosphere of an evening at the museum.  Regular admission rates apply.
   
• December 5 - "Breakfast with the Grinch:  8:30, 9:30 and 10:30 AM.  Join the Grinch and Cindy-Lou Who for a fun-filled holiday event!  You'll dine on green eggs and ham while enjoying a reading of the Dr. Seuss classic How the Grinch Stole Christmas.  Advanced reservations are required.  $10.00 per person; children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.  Each seating is limited to 15 people, so sign up early!  Registration and payment deadline is November 27.
   
• December 5 - "Photos with Santa"  9:00 AM - 12:00 PM.  Old St. Nick himself drops by the museum in his best Victorian suit to visit with the boys and girls of the area.  He'll be listening to Christmas wishes and handing our candy canes to all those on his "nice" list.  Visiting with Santa is free; have your photo taken with him for $5.00.
   
• December 12 - "Sweet Treats"  1:00 - 3:00 PM.  Join local baker Donna Ball for this holiday candy workshop.  Donna will teach you how to make a variety of candies that will sweeten up your holidays.  There is a fee for this class, which covers a single adult participant or an adult/child team.  Registration and payment deadline is Friday, December 4.
   
• December 20 - "Tea with Mrs. Claus"  1:00 - 3:00 PM.  Put on your Sunday best and enjoy an afternoon tea with our special guest, Mrs. Claus.  You will enjoy delicious refreshments and join Mrs. Claus in stories and songs that will get you ready for Santa's Christmas Eve visit.  All children must be accompanied by an adult.  The $15.00 fee covers an adult and one child.  Additional children from the same family are $5.00 each.  Seating is limited and advance reservations are required.  Registration and payment deadline is Tuesday, December 15.
