Follow the museum from its establishment in 1948 to today and see how the collection, the building, and approaches to the care and display of artifacts have changed over the last 60 years.  Photographs and items from the archives help to tell the story of the museum, its curators, collections, and educational activities of the last six decades. 

Community Coffeehouse

 Come and enjoy a variety of stories, songs, dances and surprises!  All friendly-family performers are invited to this open microphone event.  If performing, please arrive by 6:45 PM.
"Sweet Treats"

March 8
1-3PM
Join local candy-maker Gina Stanley for this delightful and delicious workshop.  Learn Gina's secrets for creating "fool-proof" candy every time.

Fee:  $10.00, including instruction and supplies.  This class is suitable for a single adult or an adult/child team.  Fee applies to either a team or single adult.  Workshop is limited to 20 participants.  Registration and payment deadline is February 29.

"Eggstravaganza"

Egg Decorating

 

Join us on the lawn of the museum for some "egg-citing" fun!  The program is free.

Decorate eggs using fun techniques.  Fee:  $5.00, ages 5-7, limit 10 and ages 8-12, limit 15.  Registration and payment deadline is March 7.

"Confederate Harmonies"
The Music of Southern Women and their Fighting Men

1-3 PM
Dr. Gary Crum of UVA-Wise will present a program which looks at the role of music in the Confederate military units and on the Southern home-fronts.  Of particular emphasis will be the women of the Confederacy -- songs by them and about them.  This program is free.
