Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park

  • November 7 - "Santa's Little Helpers"  1:00 - 3:00 PM.  Help Santa and his elves get ready for Christmas at this annual children's workshop.  Participants will craft three unique ornaments during this program.  Two ornaments will be taken home and one will be placed on the "Children's Tree" in the 2009 Festival of Trees.  There is a $10.00 fee for this workshop, which includes all materials.  Ages 5-7.  Limit 10 participants; ages 8-12, limit 15 participants.  Registration and payment deadline is October 30.
     
  • November 7 - First Saturday Community Coffeehouse  7:00 - 9:00 PM.  Each month, except June, July, August and December, a different host performer takes center stage and welcomes all family-friendly performers to step up to the open mic.  Come and hear music, poetry, and stories from some of the community's best performers.  Admission is free.  Refreshments will be available for purchase.  All performers are asked to arrive by 6:45 PM for sign-in and scheduling.
     
  • November 15 -  December 31  "Festival of Trees."  This local holiday tradition returns for its 14th year.  See over 80 trees and other decorations provided by volunteers from the region.  Regular admission rates apply.
     
  • November 21 - "Wonderful Wreaths"  1:00 PM - 3:00 PM.  Back by popular demand, this workshop teaches you how to make a lovely Christmas wreath using fresh greenery.  This hands-on holiday workshop has a fee of $10.00, which includes all materials.  The registration and payment deadline is Friday, November 13.  The class is limited to 20 participants.
     
  • November 28 - "Festival of Trees" Night Viewing  6:30 - 8:30 PM.  See the trees and other holiday decorations in the magical atmosphere of an evening at the museum.  Regular admission rates apply.
