- October 10 - "Authors in the Gap"
Signature Event 6:00 - 8:00 PM. The museum welcomes
best-selling author Emilie Richards. Ms. Richards' name
resonates with thousands of readers who have embraced her works of romance
and family fiction since her first book, Brendan's Song, was
published in 1985. 2008 brought us Sister's Choice, the latest
Shenandoah Album novel. Inspired by quilt makers, her own
quilting, and her passion for the Valley, the Shenandoah Album books
also draw upon Emile's experiences as a counselor, as a VISTA volunteer in
the Ozarks, and with the women there who insisted that she learn to quilt.
Each of these family dramas takes the name of a traditional quilt pattern
and celebrates life, love, wisdom and triumph. Marking the publication
of Sister's Choice, Emilie contributed to Leisure Arts' non-fiction Quilt
along with Emilie Richards: Sister's Choice, the latest of
their pattern books celebrating the Shenandoah Album novels.
